Food, Fire & Soul
On assignment for Instituto Brasil a Gosto I traveled for 4 months through the countryside and the coast of Brazil with the objective of portraying the essence of gastronomy in the country. From the Amazon to the south, I photographed markets, kitchens, and the making of the most traditional dishes of Brazilian cuisine. I also had the opportunity to talk to small rural producers, fishermen, artisans, and house cooks. The result of this expedition is in the book Brasil a Gosto. The project was awarded with Prêmio Abril de Jornalismo in 2005 and won the Cookbook Awards 2006, in China.
